The performance of this piece runs almost two and a half minutes at the marked tempo and was written for players fluent in first position playing. As the title implies, there is back and forth answering of phrases between the first violin and the second violin and viola. Some pizzicato playing is used. A piano part is included for performance but is not necessary.
