This week we’re featuring a rollicking, toe-tapping blues number. Basses Covered is a grade 4 string orchestra title from Emmy Award-winning composer Thom Sharp. It is the perfect opportunity to feature your bass section.
About Basses Covered
The style is relaxed and should not sound forced. Be sure use full note values and not to shorten the quarter note when followed by an eighth. (This of course does not apply to the pizzicato rhythms in the bass part.) The work can certainly be played at a slower than suggested tempo if it helps the performance. Also, if the pizzicato in the bass parts prove to be too much, it could be played with a light brush stroke if absolutely necessary.
